Building on this fund will ensure travel to away games continues into the future. Supporting these students now is an investment in the future of the workforce and society. Donations [to Marching Band scholarship funds] set a standard of generosity that recipients of these scholarships can follow as they leave the band and the University.
Such financial support ensures that we can continue to develop young leaders. I will never forget my time with the band. It was truly a magical experience and I received so much more from this experience than I would have ever expected. My time came in , and that moment changed my life, as it has for so many other band members over the years.
Band members rehearse at Cromwell Field. Band alumni pack Cromwell Field. There are a lot of familiar faces that I see every year during tailgates and football games. The freshman who only marched for a couple seasons and then decided to focus on academics now has a PhD and is a professor at Azusa Pacific University.
She becomes an important part of our reunion weekend — even though our entire shared experience 30 years ago lasted about a week. Trojan Marching Band alumni march toward the field.
The other relationship that was rekindled was with my instrument. But it still feels familiar. Neither has the weight of the instrument around my neck. As soon as I find a couple notes that work, everything else falls into place around it.
This Homecoming celebration for the Trojan Marching Band alumni is about friendships forged years ago. The cast of characters who played such a prominent role in my college experience are all the same, though a little grayer and a bit more wrinkled. Band members head toward the field and their moment in the spotlight.

It still involves the same chaos it always did. The band also features dedicated, well-trained color guard and twirler teams. Note: We offer scholarships specifically for guard and twirling in addition to instrumental scholarships.
There is no fee for participation, room or board. When the semester begins, the marching band meets for an hour on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Drum-line, color guard and twirling teams have a limited amount of additional rehearsal time. Feel free to contact Dr. Marty Marks if you have questions at or mmarks adrian. Concert band rehearsals begin in early November when football season ends.
